DescriptionThird son of John Mortlock, born 1780, died 1859. On his father’s death in 1816 he inherited the Abington Estate and in 1817 he went into co-partnership with his younger brother Frederick Cheetham to whom his father had left the bank; in 1820, by agreement with his brother, he took over the running of the Bank [for further details on Thomas Mortlock see Biographical Notes].
Memorandum relating to Thomas Mortlock's deed of agreement: Stating that the 'person or persons having authority' should be the same as in his will. Annotation in a different hand, to the effect that it has been added to the deed of agreement and signed by all four parties. (It is not clear which deed of agreement is referred to)
