TitleAn 'account of ye books Vestments & Vessels belonging to ye Church of Upwood'. Signed J. Pyke, Minister, Thomas Charter, Churchwarden and the mark of Mark Crowden. At the foot of the Inventory the following: 'Mem Went to Upwood to visit the Church July 31. 1771, when the Churchwarden, son of the above Thomas Charter, refused to admit me as Visitor by the direction of Captain Bickerton, Tho' he offered to let me see the Church as a matter of favor (which was not accepted) witness my hand Nic: Cholwell'.
