DescriptionTwenty seven volumes, containing copies of letters written by Samuel Wells (between 1824-1849); Thomas Archer (between 1849-1859), Goodwyn Archer (between 1860-1893), Goodwyn Archer and Harold Archer (between 1893-1898), Harold Archer (between 1898-1916) and Harold Archer and Goodwyn Luddington (between 1917-1920) as Registrars to the Bedford Level Corporation. The letters were initially written out by hand, but after 1863 they were wet copied into the Letter Books (see R59/13/6/B/4 onwards). Brief instructions for the wet copy process can be found in Letter Books R59/31/6/B/11-R59/31/6/B/15. Printed summons to Board meetings have been stuck into some of the Letter Books, especially between 1889 and 1912 (see R59/31/6/B/10-R59/31/6/B/14).
