TitlePetition of Several of the Commissioners of Middle Fen District
DescriptionThe petitioners report that the banks in their district have been badly damaged by the recent floods. They have already spent nearly £500, and believe that it will cost a further £2,500 or £3,000 to complete the repairs. They ask for financial assistance to secure their district. They also ask for an intelligent engineer to make an immediate inspection of the channels of the River Ouse and the River Lark, as the many jetties cause the channel to silt up. They also ask for the spade machine to be worked next winter, to clear any obstructions from the rivers above [Brandon Creek]. Twelve signatories.
