TitlePetition of Several of the Owners and Occupiers of Fen Lands in Burwell, Swaffham Prior, Swaffham Bulbeck, Bottisham, Quy and Horningsea
DescriptionThe petitioners represent that their district has been flooded for the past few years, and that the owners of Adventurers' lands have not been able to pay the taxes imposed upon their lands. They intend to erect a solid, substantial bank next to the River Cam, as the great bank is insufficient to protect their lands. They ask for permission to impose a general tax on all the lands in their district, to allow them to raise the money needed to carry out the works. Thirty eight signatories.
