TitleMortgage for £1000. Mayor, etc to John George Green of Buckden, esquire, and Reverend John Wheeldon of Market Street in the County of Hertford, clerk, the yearly rent of £55 payable to the mayor, etc, as a result of a lease for 999 years made to the County on 25 March 1840, of the piazzas or cloisters surrounding the Court Hall.
Description(The loan is to enable the mayor, etc, to repair the borough's part of the Court Hall and to build a new market on the part of the Charity School yard and leased for this purpose from the trustees of Walden's charity on 1 February 1840 for 99 years. There are also references to the County leasing part of the Court Hall from the borough on 25 March 1840 for 999 years at a peppercorn rent.)
