DescriptionDeclarations featuring the name, elected office, date and signature of the official. Each declaration is either witnessed by 2 justices of the peace, 2 aldermen or in later volumes the town clerk. Early declarations says that the official will not exercise the power of his office to injure or weaken the Protestant church, later declarations that s/he will fulfil the duties of the office to the best of his/her judgement and ability.
