TitleCash account ledgers and petty cash books
DescriptionThis subseries consists of cash account books and ledgers detailing receipts and expenditure, and two petty cash books.

The cash account books contain the date of the receipt, whether examined or approved, how received, particulars of payment, the account to be credited and in which ledger further details will be found. Records of expenditure are the date of payment, whether they have been recommended or allowed, the number of voucher, to whom paid, particulars of the payments and the account debited.

Ledgers numbered one record the following information for receipts: references made in the minute book and cash book; corresponding credit (i.e. general district rate) and the date of receipt. For expenditure the following information is recorded: reference from the minute book and cash book, highway repairs, invoice, voucher; date of payment; corresponding debit and items (i.e. public works.)

Ledgers numbered two record debenture, recipient, date and the account into which deposited, wages, rates, salary.

The petty cash books contain credits of cheques paid into the petty cash account approximately once a month. Debits are listed chronologically and consist of payment for wages and salaries; office cleaning; stamps and telegrams; and supplies such as postcards or publications.
