TitleStatement for the opinion of counsel on existing legislation affecting the rating of University property
DescriptionThe advice sought relates to whether the Commissioners have exceeded their powers under the local acts in causing the construction of sewers greater than is sufficient to carry off surface water and whether certain clauses in the Public Health Act allow them to rate University properties currently exempt. As the Cambridge Award Act requires the University to pay one quarter of the expenses incurred under the local improvement acts the commissioners require an opinion on what portion of the total cost of a sewage system should be paid by the University and under what legislation this should be raised.
