| Description | (1) Henry English, the elder, Buckland, Maydstone, Kent, Esq.  (2) Henry English, the younger, second son of (1), Sir Francis Barneham, Maydstone, Kt. Laurence Maydwell, Esq., one of the 6 Clerks of the Chancery. Lucy Carr, Upton, singlewoman.  Recites lease of 23rd. inst. by which (1) leased to Barneham and  Maydwell all the Manor of Monfield and  lands hereafter mentioned for a year so that they are in possession for (1) to convey the premises to them.  Now in consideration of a marriage arranged between Henry English the younger, and Lucy Carr and  for and in consideration of the Manor and  lands in Upton, Hunts, to be settled and  conveyed by the said Lucy Carr to the use of the said Henry E., the younger and their heirs, as her marriage portion.  (1) to Barneham and  Maydwell.  Manor of Monfield with apps. in Surrey which (1) bought of Wm. Tyrwitt Esq., in the parishes of Monfield, Brightling, Battell, Salehurst, Whatlington and  Seddlescombe in Surrey (except 100a. sold to Isack Haye) with all relevant deeds.  To the following purposes: that (1) may take one annuity of £200 out of the said Manor and  lands for his life, with power of distraint to (1). Apart from that the said Manor and lands to Henry English the younger, and his heirs until his marriage, then to use of him and  his assigns for life. After his death to use of Lucy Carr and  her assigns for her life, for her jointure. After her death to use of their heirs. If none, to the heirs of the body of Henry English, the younger. If none to the right heirs of Henry E. Provided that Henry E. may charge the said Manor and  lands with any yearly sum or rent charge after the decease of Lucy towards the raising of portions for their younger children.  Henry E., the elder, covenants that the lands are of the yearly value of £600 and to execute any necessary deeds of further assurance within the next 20 years. Usual covenants. |
