| Description | A bond entered into by Oliver Cromwell, his mother Elizabeth Cromwell and William Herne (of Brampton, gentleman) with Arthur Ashton for securing the title to two closes called the Barne Closes in Huntingdon that he had conveyed to Arthur Ashton, made 19 December, 3 Charles I, 1627. Cromwell undertakes to obtain a release of all right from his uncle Sir Oliver (of Hinchingbrooke), to warrant that his wife Elizabeth has no right in dower to the closes and to show a recognizance for £4,000 by which he is held to Thomas Morley, leatherseller of London by the following Michaelmas. |
