Description | All statements put forward as to the Ouse Schedule of Tolls being deposited because of the desire to increase the tolls are absolutely false. This schedule has been deposited in strict conformity with the Railway & Canal Traffic Act, 1888. The smallness of the toll at the St. Ives lock, compared with the greater cost of maintaining that lock. This will be changed by the new system, but Mr. Goodman is only protesting from self-interest, for more than half of the traffic to St. Ives and Huntingdon belongs to him. If he wishes to oppose, let him do so at his own expense and not at the county's |
