Use of proceeds of the sale of the old workhouse in the sheepmarket to drain the parish The parish council taking over certain functions of the vestry 1896. Repairs and alterations to the church; 9 Jun 1853 removal of present news, pulpit, reading desks and gallery and the re-erection of the pulpit and desk, repair of the floor and chancel. 11 Apr 1855 bequest left for the repair of various Johnson family monuments, stain glass window at east end of chancel given by Messrs. Lindsell (Owners of Burleigh Hill Farm liable for repair of chancel). c. 18 Feb 1860 church roof damaged. 1867-8 purchase of additional ground to be added to the churchyard 1868 reading pew removed (4 panels of which used to divide the charcel and nave), replaced by lecturn. 1878 architects reports on the condition of the tower and spire 1883 tenders for, 1884 it was decided to; build a vestry at N.E. end of church, move and improve the organ adding 60 seats to the church, remove ceiling, repair and open out roof restore the facing of the chancel arch, improve the warming of the church and repair, the churchyard walls. 1882 a fire-resistant safe purchased for parish documents, 1893 new organ, 1914 restoration of statuary and new reredos for the main and side altar. 23 Mar 1919 church badly damaged by British aircraft, report of accident, architects recommendations, photos, fund raising etc, repair not completed until 1928, bells and clock restored after damage in 1930. 1921 War memorial chapel, 1928 new organ. Apr 1870 report of Charities Committee lists all the parish charities their original grants and nature.
