DescriptionMandeville left for London this morning and means to stop there to visit the voters before going to Huntingdonshire. She did not accompany him but hopes things will go well there. She is glad to hear the Duchess, her husband's estranged mother, is better and asks Montagu to pass on an invitation to stay when she leaves Hastings. It is their duty, she believes, to work in private towards the Duchess's comfort and to forget the past. The Duchess does not seem to seek a return to society, which would be impossible and injurious to them all.
