DescriptionMajor Fitz Thomas was the man mentioned in his last letter and they have spent the day talking over the affair together. The Major would esteem it an honour to do service to the Duke but apprehends difficulties in obtaining a leave of absence. Suggests retirement from military life. Hopes he will be agreeable to the Duke and Lord Mandeville. Postscript mentions Col. Hildesley who has "ruined himself (by all accounts) by his unnatural amours".
