DescriptionSouth Huntingdonshire Liberal Association members. The Hunts Post of the 22nd August 1946 reproduced an almost identical photograph and described this image as having been taken at the South Huntingdonshire Liberal Association garden party held at Hinchingbrooke House, Huntingdon on the 27th June 1906. The members are identified in the article as:
Front row left to right - Mr F Christmas, C.G. Tebbutt (later Alderman and Vice Chair of Huntingdonshire County Council), J McNish (St Neots), S Hinsby (St Neots), C Temple Layton (of Brampton, he built the Roman Catholic Church, Huntingdon), Lord Lucas, Mrs Bateman Brown, S Howard Whitbread (of the brewing family, ex Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, and who won the South Hunts Parliamentary seat for the Liberals in 1906), T Spencer (Clerk to the St Neots UDC, who died recently), T Coxon (later Alderman and Mayor of Huntingdon), Robert Cater (Huntingdon) and EH Cadell
The second row includes - Mr Warren (Huntingdon0, HA Walker (now Clerk of St Neots UDC), RC Grey (Alconbury, later Alderman on Huntingdonshire County Council and unsuccessful Liberal candidate for Huntingdonshire in the 1919 general election), W Murton (Liberal agent for South Hunts), JH Harrison (now a member of Huntingdon Town Council), Mr Davies, Mr Clarke (Huntingdon), J Pearson and FM Hinde.
The third row includes - Mr Ashley (Ellington), Mr Baker, (Ellington), Ebenezer Dear (Huntingdon), G Newbury (Hartford), Pigram Peacock (Huntingdon)
The back row includes - F Smith (Buckden), A Pearson, WE Driver (later Alderman and Mayor of Huntingdon), Alderman Tysoe (Godmanchester), WH Mason (Huntingdon), Alderman TB Fordham (Godmanchester), WF Lamb, F Woodward (Huntingdon), EH Woodford (later Alderman and Mayor of Huntingdon), Mr Shadbolt and Harry Rout (Huntingdon).
The 1906 trade directory records that the photographer Frederick Hinde,who can be seen at the end of the second row, was treasurer of the Liberal Association.
