Description | Shows the whole of the parish of Burrough Green before inclosure (which was by private agreement in 1723 - 4) with south-west at top. Strips detailed with tenants' or freeholders' names and palely edged in green, yellow and brown to distinguish demesne from copyhold, freehold, glebe, etc. lands within different arable furlongs, closes or meadows. Field and furlong names also given. Tenements in other parishes shown with abbutals in boxes around edge of map and village buildings in elevation. Finely drawn with initials of otherwise plain rectangular cartouche and of field names in surrounding parishes elaborately decorated. Scale of perches and large compass rose. Pencilled alterations to field boundaries made (to judge by arithmetical sum near scale) in 1818. |
