DescriptionPeamount Sanatorium was founded as a tuberculosis sanatorium in 1912 by the Women's National Health Association of Ireland (Incorporated). Ishbel, Lady Aberdeen, was president and founder of the Women's National Health Association of Ireland (and of the Settlement), 1912 until her death in 1939. In 1963 the Peamount Learning Disabilities Unit was established for adults with a learning disability, further expansion of the Unit since 1995 has enabled it to provide facilities for the elderly and young adults with disabilities. Unless stated otherwise, the papers were received in good order, as part of the 27 transfer cases which have the appearance of never having been opened after their removal from Papworth in 1946. Almost all records for 1932 are missing.
