TitleVolume containing survey of open fields of Gamlingay
DescriptionContaining: 1) Survey of the open fields of Gamlingay, furlong by furlong, setting out in case of each strip the names of owner and occupier, the length and breadth, the area as collected and as regulated, the price per acre [often blank] and the value. 2) Custom of stocking the various commons in Gamlingay. 3) Abstract of the survey showing totals of allottable land in the various fields, meadows and pastures. 4) List of lands ploughed showing how many times it has been done, the value per acre and the value. 5) Statement of amount to be paid by each person in respect of each piece of land. [This volume appears to have been compiled in connection with the inclosure. The Act was passed in 1841 and the award made in 1848, so that it presumably belongs to the intervening period. The paper, however, is watermarked 1837. 'Numbers on the plan', when quoted, do not refer to the inclosure map and so must refer to the draft map which numbered each strip as it existed before inclosure.]
