DescriptionJohn Cheetham desired to quit the business due to his disapprobation in its method of conduct but agrees to return, to avoid the bank's mismanagement and possible closure. John Mortlock and Frederick Cheetham Mortlock pledge all their property to run bank as John Cheetham Mortlock 'so frequently urged' (i.e. no-one to be allowed to overdraw, all advances to be backed by securities) and to indemnify John Cheetham Mortlock against possible losses, any dissent by him is not to be construed as a cause for coolness; John Cheetham Mortlock to save the concern and promote the comfort and affluence of his father and family; his salary to be £300, horse and taxes paid for, and a qualification for a County Commission of the Peace of at least £150.
