DescriptionOriginal bundles of letters and papers relating to the bond of John Bowden to John Mortlock. John Bowden senior (died August 1818) and his son John Bowden junior (died October 1840) were both clerks at the General Post Office, London. John Bowden and his sons John and Thomas were indebted to John Mortlock in a sum of over £8000 and both John senior and John junior assigned life assurance policies to John Mortlock and his heir Thomas Mortlock for repayment of the debt.
