TitleNew House Farm, Great Abington
DescriptionMost of the land for this farm was already inclosed by 1716. Benjamin Fallowes' map shows a farmhouse in the approximate position of the present New House farmhouse (An Exact Map of the Mannor [sic] Farm of Abington Hall …1716, Cambridgeshire Archives R103/052). ). In 1936 the farm was bought by the Government to create the Abington estate of the Land Settlement Association (L.S.A.); the land was let out in about 45 small-holdings of approximately 14 acres, each with a dwelling house and outbuildings, while the farmhouse became the headquarters. The L.S.A. ceased to exist in 1983 and the individual holdings and the farmhouse were sold into private ownership.
