Description | John Mortlock bought Abington Estate in 1800 and Abington Hall was his preferred place of residence. He was the only member of the family to live mainly at Abington, while also establishing a spacious Bank House in Cambridge, adjacent to the bank premises. This was where his son Thomas preferred to live; Thomas' successor, his nephew Edmund John, did live in Abington, but always at Abington Lodge, beside the river in Great Abington. |
