TitleCollins deeds: Culy family of Leverington
DescriptionThe Culy family were of Huguenot origin and from 1655 lived in Guyhirn. In 1691 the Rothwell Independent Church in Northamptonshire established a branch fellowship in Guyhirn, and in 1693, under the leadership of the anabaptist, David Culy, the branch became a separate sect which took the name of 'Culimite'. By about 1827 the name had been changed to 'Wisbech Calvinists', but Culimites are referred to until about 1851 when they disappear. [See David Culy the Culimites, by Trevor A Bevis]. Daniel Culy who was mentioned in these deeds is undoubtedly a member of the family
