TitleGuardianship Papers
DescriptionGuardianship papers largely take the form of a bond by which a person would agree to 'execute the office of a curator and guardian' to a named minor, else they were forfeit a substantial sum of money. The records are in Latin to c.1732, although sections of earlier records are in English. See Anne Tarver, Church Court Records (Phillimore, 1995), pp. 78-81 which explains the diplomatic of the proxy and the guardianship bond.
