DescriptionThis settlement examination should belong in the Huntingdon Borough records, but was found among the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon records, and has been retained in this collection. Thomas Elliott was born in Loughton, Yorkshire, but had been apprenticed to John Clay, gardener, of St John's Huntingdon, and then to John Vinter of the George Inn in All Saints, Huntingdon. After his apprenticeship had ended, and he had married, he let himself as a hired servant for a year to Mr Vinter
