DescriptionThese citations are described as general because they are 'quorum nomina' papers, or citations that were sent out to several persons notifying them of the need to appear at the archdeacon's court. As with AH8, the citations record that a case will take place, naming the judge, day and place of court. The descriptions included here simply record the place at which the court would be held. Those cited to appear at the court were there by the operation of the presentments of the churchwardens, whose duty it was to present all 'notorious offenders' in their parishes under Canon 109.
