DescriptionArticles of agreement between [the Society of Adventurers] and Sir Cornelius Vermuyden, in which he was appointed the Director of Works. In return he was to receive £1,000 and 4,000 acres of the newly drained land. It also agreed that if the costs of the works exceeded £90,000, then Sir Cornelius Vermuyden was to contribute towards the expense.
