DescriptionFour volumes, containing schedules of documents affixed with the Bedford Level Corporation seal between 1769 and 1901. These included conveyances of Adventurers' lands, powers of attorney, bonds, all Parliamentary Bills, petitions and the annual arrears roll. In 1830, Samuel Wells received (as the Registrar to the Corporation) £1:1s for affixing the seal to any instrument and 5s for affixing the seal to a private Parliamentary Bill. Following the dissolution of the Corporation in 1920, the seal was deposited at the Victoria and Albert Museum (together with the ceremonial mace, the 1636 grant of Arms and a decree of the Commissioners of Sewers at Peterborough on 13 June 1636).
