DescriptionBundle of papers concerning railway legislation passing through Parliament in 1844. Contains "Clauses for Protection of Drainage and Navigation in carrying the Railway across the Bedford Level"; schedules of lands in Ely, Waterbeach, Stretham, Little Thetford, Coveney, Witcham, Byall Fen, Chatteris, Doddington, Elm, Whittlesey, Stanground and Fletton affected by proposals to extend the Northern and Eastern Railway; a petition of the Bedford Level Corporation in support of the Eastern Counties Railway Bill; a notice advising that payment is due on shares in the Eastern Counties Railway; resolutions of the Eastern Counties Railway Company; a schedule of the drainage districts, turnpike roads, rivers and banks affected by the proposed railway lines from Cambridge to Ely, Ely to Brandon, and Ely to Peterborough; draft clauses to protect the rights of the Corporation; lists of the people to whom bills and draft clauses have been sent; and correspondence. Also contains the breviate for the Northern and Eastern Railway (Brandon and Peterborough Extension) Bill and a prospectus for the Harwich Railway.
