DescriptionLegal case as to whether Admiral Wooley is liable to repay £1,700 spent stopping up a breach in the west bank of the River Ouse. Admiral Wooley neglected to repair the bank of the River Ouse by Skipwith Farm, and several thousand acres of land was flooded when the bank breached in February 1814. Contains copies of the case, together with the opinions of Charles Abbott, the Solicitor General Samuel Shepherd and Richard Verrall; a further case as to whether an owner can be compelled to repair a bank, together with the opinions of Charles Abbott and Richard Verrall, and the further opinions of Richard Verrall and Charles Abbott on the case (see also R59/31/box47/bundle3).
