DescriptionBundle of miscellaneous draft papers, many concerning the lease or assignment of the residue unexpired in lease of Corporation premises. Contains draft leases and assignments to Thomas Crowe; South Gibson; Elijah Eyre; Abraham Green; John Grubb; George and John Hall; Thomas Lindsell; Messrs Ogden and Sons; Charles Thurbon and the Trustees of the Wesleyan Methodist chapel at Hilgay. Also contains draft conditions for letting public houses vacated by Mr Massey; particulars of public houses to be let in 1854; draft appointment of William Nix, as a valuer to the Bedford Level Corporation in relation to the Nene Valley Drainage; handbill about the lease of cottages and gardens in Welney and Littleport; the reports of Messrs Vipan and Grainger, and Messrs Bradfield and Martin, as to the state of public houses in 1857; a list of reports, books and pamphlets relating to the Bedford Level or the outfalls in the Fen Office in 1865; the information of William Derisley Harding, that John Dant had haled eight lighters on the Hundred Foot Bank in contravention of an Act of Parliament; power of attorney to the Serjeant at Mace, to demand possession of a cottage and premises at Littleport; appointment of Goodwyn Archer as agent to prove debts in bankruptcy cases; a statement of the deeds in the Fen Office relating to the title of Lady Selena Childers and John Walbanke Childers and the Lord and Lady Saye and Sele, and other notes.
