TitlePetition of James Paterson Twiss, of Cambridge
DescriptionThe petitioner reports that the Bedford Level Corporation intended to demolish "The Ship" at Purl's Bridge in April 1831, but resolved instead to demolish rival public house "The Chequers". He then leased "The Ship", and has laid out £14 to prevent it from absolutely falling down. He represents that "The Chequers" is still open, and asks for some allowance to be made towards the money he laid out to prevent "The Ship" from falling down. One signatory.
