TitlePetition of Thomas Gunthorpe senior
DescriptionAn agreement made in 1686 or so by William Colville esq., Richard Robert Swaine and Ralph Pierson esq., for repairing and getting the channel and bank to defend the Great sluice for £60, 1/3 of which to be paid by the country and £20 was duly paid. He was also to keep and repair the same for seven years @ £10 pa of which he was paid 1/3 by the country and at the end of 7 years his salary to be £6 pa and he was paid 1/3 of this till the sluice was blown up. Certified by J Colvile, Robert Swaine (?) and Thomas Edwards.
