TitlePetition of Read Peacock and William Wright, Trustees of William Underwood
DescriptionThe petitioners represent that William Underwood's 300 acres of Adventurers' lands in Somersham Far High Fen now lie underwater, as a result of a dam or bank built across an old watercourse by the Commissioners for draining lands in Sutton, Mepal, Witcham, Chatteris, Doddington and Byall Fen. They ask for a cut to be made through the dam, to allow the water from his land to drain into Hammond's Eau. They also ask for permission to erect a sluice in the new cut at their own expense, to be operated by William Underwood or his tenants as required. Two signatories.
