DescriptionThis series continues 'to present time' [1929 when Palmer and Barnard were writing], and each volume is provided with an index. Formerly noted in the list as at Guildhall Shelf D. Lease books originally lettered: A 1558-1637; B 1638-1712; C 1712-56; D 1756-76; E 1776-91; F 1791-1804; G 1804-16; H 1816-30; I 1830-42. From 1842 onwards the lease books have been placed in a separate sequence as post-1836 records, as per Palmer/Barnard's omission of these with the note 'remainder of the records on this shelf are post 1836'. Other post-1836 records appear in their list as 'modern records' at Guildhall Shelf E, being 'on top of the press, above Box I: New Gaol Deeds, 1828; St Giles' Inclosure Award, 1804 (not transferred); Barnwell Inclosure, 1811 (not transferred)'

Lease books A-I have been recatlogued to sit with records of the Municipal Corporation to ensure that a complete series of records is not split artifically. They can be found at CB/2/CL/17/1-9.
