Although the original titles for each file have not survived the original alphabetical arrangement has been preserved as far as possible, where the original file prefix has been identified it has been added before the title. Most files are correspondence files relating to Air raid precaution activities including construction and inspection of shelters, demonstrations and exercises, damage reports, supplies, equipment, vehicles, personnel, decontamination, rescue squads, emergency preparations, and medical treatment centres. These files also contain bulletins although Home Office, Ministry of Health, and Civil Defence office of the Regional Commissioner circulars have been filed under a separate series of their own.
