TitleEntertainments Committee - Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee festivities
DescriptionA public meeting held to decide on the nature of festivities to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee decided to build as a permanent memorial a home for Nurses to be called The Queen Victoria Home for District Nurses, as well as festivities. Subscription books were designed to record the names of subscribers, the value of their donation and which fund they would like to subscribe to. The festivities, which took place on 22 Jun 1897 included sports on Midsummer Common, a decorated carriages competition on Queens Road followed by a procession, variety entertainment on Parker's Piece, a water carnival on Midsummer Common, a bonfire on Midsummer Common followed by fireworks on Parker's Piece.

There are a few item included which relate to the organisation of a celebration dinner for school children at the Corn Exchange in 1887 for the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
