TitleRegisters of council house tenancies
DescriptionIndexed by surname of tenant on one side of the page and by street name on the other. Arranged in chronological order by date of new tenancy. Each entry provides address of property let, name of tenant moving out, whether vacated, transferred, or re-housed, date their notice to quit, forwarding address, number of keys returned; name of new tenant and existing address; number of people moving into the house, number of keys provided and date of tenancy and rent and water costs. Each tenant signs to say they have received their rent and water cards. A note at the front of each volume outlines the rent calculation based on pre and post war housing, and amenities and disabilities of the property. These registers are closed for 50 years from the date of the last entry. There are two types of volume, the first set are for existing housing stocks let and then re-let from the 1920s with the information recorded becoming more detailed from 1927. The second set are for original tenancies of new housing estates and developments.
