DescriptionUntil 1959 the Housing Manager was an officer of the Treasurers Department however for simplicity of access the records have been arranged here under a separate Housing Department. The series contains registers of council tenancies, 1919-1972; Housing Rental account books, 1924-1954; and a register of consents referred to the rent tribunal, 1965-1968. Records relating to building and maintenance of housing can be found within the records of records of the City Surveyor, technical architectural, these include subsidy houses certificate books, 1926-1929; register of houses in clearance areas and individual houses unfit for habitation, 1936-1973; and registers of new dwellings, 1927-1972.
