DescriptionThe Cambridge (University and Colleges) Rating bill was promoted by the Commissioners to amend the law with respect to the rating of the University and colleges. The series consists of a copy of the Cambridge Rating Bill, 1886; resolution of the Commissioners to apply for an amendment to the law relating to rating of University property; reports and resolutions of the Assessment and Parliamentary Committees; correspondence between CW (Charles) Palmer, clerk to the Commissioners, the parliamentary agents for the bill, Sharpe and Co solicitors, and the University; notices of meetings of rate payers and owners, the Parliamentary Committee and the Improvement Board; and extracts from the Cambridge Chronicle.
