DescriptionThis material relates to the extension of Tenision Road to connect Station Road with Mill Road. It consists of correspondence between the Improvement Commissioners and the Local Government Board about obtaining compulsory purchase powers and terms for raising finance for the development; correspondence between the Improvement Commissioners and owners of the properties needed for the development, in particular Jesus College, Corpus Christi College, Caius College, Mr Arthur Grey and Mr William Saint; correspondence between the Improvement Commissioners and their lawyers, Sharpe and Co solicitors, relating to obtaining compulsory purchase powers from parliament; petitions from the inhabitants of Tenison Road; papers relating to the inquest by Major Tulloch into the land purchase; schedules, awards and valuations for the land required; agreements, conveyances and abstracts of title relating to the land required; extracts from Improvement Commissioners minutes and reports; legal opinions on altering the proposed line of the new road; and correspondence between the Improvement Commissioners and financial services regarding the £4000 loan required for the development.
