TitleBundle of correspondence and legal papers concerning the case of Wilsons vs Chesterton Local Board
DescriptionMr Hudson tenant of the Eagle Tavern public house in Chesterton complained to Mr William Wilson, Normandy Cottage, Cavendish Avenue, Cherry Hinton, owner of the Eagle Tavern about subsidence to the 'slaughterhouse' (also referred to as the Brewery). William Wilson proceeded to take legal action against the Board for the damage caused by the Board allegedly during the excavating and laying of a sewer drain passing along the side of the building. The damage has caused subsidence to the property. An arbitrator was appointed to hear the case who sided with Mr Wilson and therefore adjudged the Board to pay £100 compensation in addition to the legal cost of £74.15.10 and £50 for the Reference. The case was heard before the High Court, Queen's Bench Division. The bundle mainly consists of correspondence concerning legal costs, enquiries, court proceedings etc. Most of the significant documents listed below.
