Bland, surveyor, informing the council of the dangers of the current sewage system upon the health of the residents in Chesterton with reference to specific properties including 60 Hertford Street whose occupant is suffering from perpetual fever due to faulty drainage. "very little question that the fatal illness was contracted from the emanations into the house of sewer gas". The other case concerns the fatality at 3 Humberstone Terrace in whose occupant died of typhoid fever. The rest of the correspondence advises the council on the changes to be made to the sewage system, Jul 1897
