TitleHighways and Transportation Committee 1973-1981
DescriptionThis Committee exercised all the powers and duties of the County Council (1) in relation to roads and bridges and the traffic thereon, private streets and public rights of way, (2) relating to public transport, (3) relating to road safety, and (4) relating to car parks. The Committee also dealt with waste and refuse disposal issues, including landfill sites directly operated by the County Council. Road safety and school crossing patrol matters were delegated to the Road Safety sub-committee (see CC7/M10/2). In 1979 the Committee set up a Passenger Transport sub-committee (see CC7/M10/5) and two joint sub-committees with City Council representation, specifically the Cambridge Traffic Management Joint Sub-Committee (see CC7/M10/6) and the Peterborough Traffic Management Joint Sub-Committee (see CC7/M10/20).

The Highways and Transportation Committee was dissolved in 1981 and replaced by the Transportation Committee (see CC7/M10/3).
