TitleFinance and Review (later Finance) Sub-Committee 1973-1981
DescriptionThis was a permanent sub-committee of the Policy and Resources Committee (see CC7M2/1). The purposes of the sub-committee were, in brief summary, (1) to advise the Policy and Resources Committee on the impact of financial proposals, (2) to secure the proper administration of the Council's financial affairs, (3) to deal with any revenue or capital items not specifically referred to any other committee, (4) to exercise control over the approved budgets, (5) to supervise the borrowing of money, (6) to exercise the Council's powers and responsibilities relating to employee superannuation (except teachers), insurances, computers, payments to members, purchases of supplies, salaries and expenses of Justices of the Peace, and the defrayment of Probation Service expenses, and (7) to advise the Policy and Resources Committee on the performance of any Council activity if requested to do so by that Committee.

In June 1979 the Finance and Review Sub-committee lost its duty to advise the Committee on the impact of financial proposals (item 1 in the list above) but it retained its other duties. It was therefore renamed the Finance Sub-Committee. Its former review functions passed to the Administration sub-committee (see CC7/M2/30).

The sub-committee was dissolved in 1981 when its parent committee was also dissolved. The sub-committee's remit was inherited by the Policy Committee (see CC7/M2/12).
