TitleLeisure and Amenities Committee 1973-1981
DescriptionThis committee exercised all the powers and duties of the County Council (1) in relation to public libraries, (2) in relation to county records and the legal and other documents in the custody of the county council, (3) in relation to museums, (4) to supervise and control the management of country parks and picnic sites, (5) relating to physical training and recreation, and (6) relating to public entertainment and tourism.

Its sub-committees and working groups included the Advisory Panel on Archives (see CC7/M8/2), the County Museums Advisory Committee (CC7/M8/3), the New Opportunities Working Group (see CC7/M12/1), the Disadvantaged Working Group (see CC7/M8/5) and the Working Group on Grants (see CC7/M8/6).

The committee was dissolved in 1981 and most of its responsibilities were moved to the Education Committee (see CC7/M5/1). Matters relating to county records and archives from 1981 were moved to the Administration and Resources sub-committee (see CC7/M2/13).
