TitleCounty Museums Advisory Committee [later Advisory Group] 1977-2002
DescriptionThis committee was set up in 1977 with the purpose of advising the County Council and District Councils and the private and University museums on the maintenance and development of all aspects of museum services across the county. The committee had no authority to make decisions affecting museum services. It included representatives of other local authorities within the county, the Curators' Panel (see CC7/M8/7), museums of the University of Cambridge, and of the Area Museums Service for South East England (AMSSEE) and successor bodies. It submitted its reports, recommendations and advice to the Leisure and Amenities Committee 1977-1981 (CC7/M8/1), the Libraries and Museums Sub-Committee 1981-1989 (CC7/M8/4), the Education Committee 1989-1997 (CC7/M5/1) and the Education Libraries and Heritage Committee 1997-2001 (CC7/M5/14).

The committee's name was changed to the County Museums Advisory Sub-Committee in 1987 but reverted back to County Museums Advisory Committee in 1989. In 1997 it changed name again, to the County Museums Advisory Group.

In 2002 the Committee was relaunched as the Cambridgeshire Museums Advisory Partnership (see CC7/M8/13).
