TitlePlanning and Research Sub-Committee 1981-1985
DescriptionThis sub-committee replaced the Planning committee (see CC7/M9/1) and the Administration sub-committee (CC7/M2/30) and reported to the Policy Committee (see CC7/M2/12). It was an attempt to integrate structure plans, medium term plans and various departmental plans more effectively into the Council's overall planning process, which in turn meant reviewing the Council's internal management processes and communications. The sub-committee also dealt with matters relating to land use planning policies, development control, maintenance of the structure plan, economic development, war and peacetime emergency planning, and public/external relations. In practice development control matters were devolved to the Development Control Panel (see CC7/M9/4).

The sub-committee was dissolved in 1985 and its areas of interest were split between various new committees, mainly the Planning sub-committee (see CC7/M9/3) and the Development Control sub-committee (see CC7/M9/5).
