TitlePlanning Sub-Committee 1985-1988
DescriptionThis sub-committee partly replaced the Planning and Research sub-committee (see CC7/M9/2) and reported to the Policy Committee (see CC7/M2/12). It was responsible for reviewing planning policy and making policy recommendations to the Policy committee; the actual implementation of planning policies was the preserve of the Development Control sub-committee (see CC7/M9/5). The Planning sub-committee also exercised the Council's powers and duties in relation to historic buildings and conservation, tourism, war and peacetime emergencies, and to consult on the predicted future trends in economic development. The Planning sub-committee was dissolved in 1988; its matters were then dealt with by the Land Use Planning sub-committee (see CC7/M9/6) or by the Policy Committee.
